Aug 2, 2016 - According to a new report, Tony Gilroy (The Bourne Legacy), not Gareth Edwards, directed the reshoots for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

"
Several insiders say Tony Gilroy, an uncredited writer on Disney's upcoming spinoff Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, has been empowered to take the lead on postproduction for the Dec. 16 release, even as director Gareth Edwards remains involved in the project.
Gilroy, 59, writer of several Bourne movies and director of The Bourne Legacy and Michael Clayton, became the driving force behind Rogue One's extensive, recently wrapped reshoots, which ran around five weeks. Now he is said to be "supervising" the edit with input from Edwards"

There have been a lot of details regarding the Rogue One: A Story Wars Story rehoots that will take place starting this month. The initial report indicated that Disney was unhappy with the first cut of the movie from director Gareth Edwards and was followed up with details saying the tone of the movie needed to be lightened up a bit to match with the original Star Wars from 1977."

Crazier still: Why doesnt gareth Edwards have a stock ? {nm} JMT-NL Dec 18, 11:54

Becasue Tony\ Gilroy finished SW16 and Edwards was replaced on GODZ2. {nm} Antibody Dec 18, 12:14

I'm remembering another article that said reshoots were 6 days a week for 8 weeks, was that one not true? {nm} MattW Dec 18, 13:30

Was surprised how much I liked it. I'm by no means a Star Wars nerd but I liked the new character and the story. Really grew on me. {nm} diamondman56 Dec 18, 11:32

B+, it's not as "fun" as 7 but it's a great story with strong characters. I'd pay to see it again. {nm} doitdoitdoitnow Dec 18, 12:03

I liked it. I thought it fit well with the universe but it's a very dark film. leo21 Dec 18, 12:35

As a hardcore fan of the saga, I really love the film, especially the third act. 9.5/10 {nm} Filmstardust Dec 18, 13:17

Last 40 min was awesome. Middle part was a bit slow. {nm} jamfan14 Dec 18, 14:22

Last 40 or so mins are good, but the setp up and characterisation is poor. {nm} numbersix_99 Dec 18, 13:35

minor nitpick for me was that I wish that they had shown (spoiler) a little in his clean-cut Imperial threads before he defected...ala Finn tealfan Dec 18, 14:10

A pleasant surprise indeed. {nm} tatoufan Dec 18, 15:03

Was alright (possible spoiler) Phillips Dec 18, 16:10

:) {nm} islander Dec 18, 18:04

B+, I loved it. It isn't perfect from a dramaturgical perspective, but I felt lots of things and enjoyed it a great deal. {nm} emoticripple Dec 19, 08:28
