Yeah, I'm really hating the new game without having halt/adjusts...

Now, the only way to make money is to reset/daytrade, which I really don't have time to do.  My little port (this one) does fine but my big port loses a lot of money on the weekends when there isn't a halt/adjust on Sunday to make money on. Basically, you can make money on the derivatives Monday, bond adjusts on Tuesday, and post-bond stuff Wednesday, but every other day? It's all about reset trading or making sure to hold/reverse the stocks if you want to wake up to a port in the black rather than down $1 or 2 million.

It's kind of bull****, if you ask me, because it's the classic case of two wrongs don't make a right. HSX should never have moved the halt/adjust to Saturday nights hoping there would be more trading. (There isn't. Once Thursday previews come in, the stocks are traded based on that and once the Friday estimates, they change again... otherwise? Not so much.)   And because having a halt on Saturday night was pointless, HSX removed the halt altogether... RATHER than putting it back to Friday, possibly even earlier, to actually make playing the stocks some sort of challenge rather than just being about who can stay up till 3AM (if you live on the East Coast, as I do) in order to trade based on the first movements of the day.

I'm not quitting altogether because I enjoy all the wonderful conversations that go on here.. (Yes, THAT was sarcasm.)... but man, they really need to bring back the fun in the game aspects of this, cause right now, it's just a big drag added onto the real world drag that's going on right now. (Not just government crap, but also personal stuff.)

Does anyone agree with me that halt/adjusts need to be brought back and reworked?

I agree. I've been finding it difficult to find my new rhythm with the change so I don't play as much now. {nm} ryancoke2 Mar 05, 05:25

I agree and I think you've been fair. RickandMorty Mar 05, 05:29

For me it's less the loss of fun associated with adjust (a real thing, no doubt), than the choatic, often illogical movement of stocks once shadowking Mar 05, 05:51

Yeah, it's like what I said a couple weeks ago that there will be a lot more ARB stocks after openings diamondman56 Mar 05, 05:55

Then again, John Wick 2 is going to delist just above 2.7 so maybe that's still an apt mult to use. {nm} diamondman56 Mar 05, 06:39

this is the part I don't like -- taking a temporary-but-hard hit on films with good OWs and the promise of legs {nm} CG63 Mar 05, 10:45

I'm fine without it. To me, this is more of a true stock market feel. The adjust gimmick allows you to make money quicker when the 2.7 . . . PhoneHome Mar 05, 06:08

But, HSX is not a real market, it is (was) a game. The adjust was the fun. {nm} tatoufan Mar 05, 06:37

Totally agree. I barely play anymore and it is extremely difficult to make money. {nm} platonm Mar 05, 06:10

I guess I just like it when there's more of a challenge to make the fake money. That's what makes it fun as a game. {nm} diamondman56 Mar 05, 06:40

it's not a challange, its simply a choice of spending the time to stay up & log on to this stupid site at reset {nm} adrenalin112 Mar 05, 18:17

Completely agree. But I guess HSX makes more money from reset trading than box office forecasting so we are stuck with it. {nm} ceregon Mar 05, 07:15

Can't make money if there are no players {nm} platonm Mar 05, 07:44

Agree. LOGAN would be adjusting at $230.31 and instead sits $50 lower. It was fun to get paid for getting the OW.... tomcat90 Mar 05, 08:14

It was a challenging and fun. Reading forums, doing research, waiting for early estimates... platonm Mar 05, 08:21

The "game" has definitely lost the pizazz it once had. I don't visit as often since the loss of the halts and adjusts. GruntNoNeck Mar 05, 09:03

I'm long 13 of the top 15 gainers today, LOGAN numbers are through the roof, and my port is down when it would've been up big. BORING {nm} tomcat90 Mar 05, 09:43

I like it, but would double the shares allowed for OW {nm} Dales Mar 05, 09:58

I guess I can no longer say that not a single player asked for or likes the change. shadowking Mar 05, 10:01

That makes sense. {nm} Dales Mar 05, 12:15

I proposed 250k when we had the switch to approximate the same total dollar outlay, but yes, 100k is not enough {nm} tomcat90 Mar 05, 10:14

I don't -hate- it, I suppose, but it's made me really apathetic. I log in less frequently and care less when I see red. {nm} Bronzey Mar 06, 05:23
