The only extra $100 is see is because you used different purchase prices in your examples.

Posted by: warcraft86 on Mar 10, 17:34 in response to jnafarrate's post thanks. that kinda answered a bit of the question, but...

1)If you bought 1 contract at $200 and then it cashed out at $300, you make $100, and the person who sold it to you at $200 loses $100.

2)If you bought 1 contract at $100 and then sell at $200, you make $100, no matter what happens after you sell it. If it goes on to cashout at $300, whoever you sold it to will make the other $100.

It's a zero sum game. For every contract you buy, someone has to sell. For every $1 you make, someone loses.

curious about cantor when it goes live: after the 4 weeks, will it still cash out? and where does that money come from? {nm} jnafarrate Mar 10, 12:34

Not sure what you mean, but you can email customerservice@cantorexchange.com with any questions. {nm} Antibody Mar 10, 12:56

will do, but i hope you dont mind me discussing it here for all us future players gaining some knowledge. {nm} jnafarrate Mar 10, 13:14

still cashes out. people deposit money.. its not longer fantasy land. {nm} newhere Mar 10, 13:02

right i get that. what i am saying is... (using purely hypothetical numbers) say i buy shares/contracts of airbender @ $100/per before jnafarrate Mar 10, 13:19

on one level, it comes from the traders who held the opposite position {nm} mickpix Mar 10, 13:49

ok. so that accounts for some money. but the majority of players on hsx grow their port. some are dumb, but not dumb enough to bleed out jnafarrate Mar 10, 13:51

HSX is not a zero sum game - the system adds money to the game. warcraft86 Mar 10, 17:41

of does cantor work like calls & puts in the real life stock market? where youre buying the contract at a strike price and you have to jnafarrate Mar 10, 13:57

did you see the thread on the players board? some players answered similar questions i had > islander Mar 10, 14:50

thanks. that kinda answered a bit of the question, but still left a giant gaping hole in where the money comes from... jnafarrate Mar 10, 15:35

who cares. as long as i get paid value, they could steal it from little old ladies pensions as far as i'm concerned {nm} mickpix Mar 10, 15:46

as usual, youre always so helpful mpix. {nm} jnafarrate Mar 10, 15:56

Actually all of the.... Somerset Mar 10, 17:33

The person that ends up short the contract you are long at expiration will need to pay his clearing house $150 from his account {nm} TheSureThing Mar 10, 19:12
