It's all a function of one's free time right? To make $187, you have to time each trade perfectly and watch every tick...

Wouldn't you rather buy (or short) something based on it's intrinsic value, get satisfaction from eventually being proven right, and then have tons of free time to go out and enjoy life? As fun as HSX can be to learn about happenings in the entertainment world and putting your own instincts to the test, isn't there a point where you'd rather go to the beach or to a great party instead of flipping imaginary shares? I would. But as I said, to each his/her own. If this were for real money though, yes, I would agree with you Ā :)

Kind of the norm. Sat/Sun (depending if it sells out on Sat) increases, then Mon some people exit, taking the profits. -JPV- Jun 19, 07:53

Welcome to the game. Please don't post stock movements. Perhaps learning the ropes before suggestions would be helpful. {nm} RollingThunder Jun 19, 07:54

I still don't know why HSX has an aversion to discussing stock movements. They do it all day and night with real stocks.... tomcat90 Jun 19, 09:14

I agree. I imaging the concern is influencing or directing brand new players, not experienced traders. {nm} RollingThunder Jun 19, 09:26

Well then they could just post a warning on the sign-up screen perhaps? If it's allowed in the real world where... tomcat90 Jun 19, 09:32

I've said it before, just talk about the box office, not the stock price. {nm} Antibody Jun 19, 09:33

You can't talk about the box office until the movie opens though. There are stocks on here for a decade sometimes before that point {nm} tomcat90 Jun 19, 09:39

That's not true. The valuation of stock is based on box office. {nm} Antibody Jun 19, 09:41

In theory yes. In practice, especially on HSX, oftentimes not {nm} tomcat90 Jun 19, 09:44

Why would anyone need to talk about the stock price of something way out in development? {nm} Antibody Jun 19, 09:48

Because there is a value proposition at any and all points in a movie's lifespan. Look at yesterday's IPO for example... tomcat90 Jun 19, 10:04

PTRPN doesn't have a release date or production start date. {nm} Antibody Jun 19, 10:07

Even such an innocent post can be an attempt to try to reverse the trend. {nm} Antibody Jun 19, 10:09

Experienced traders are just likely if not more to follow price movements for the sake of price movement. {nm} Antibody Jun 19, 09:32

Because unlike the real world, this it the only centralized place to talk HSX. {nm} Antibody Jun 19, 09:35

Right, but that makes it even easier to control. Turn on CNBC anytime and watch Kramer or some other talking head... tomcat90 Jun 19, 09:42

And it's under control. I've seen the way you "whine" about stock pirce. {nm} Antibody Jun 19, 10:01

Maybe instead of insulting people when they speak up about things that many on this site don't like, like the... tomcat90 Jun 19, 10:12

There is a limit to the amount of shares one could buy (or sell) of a new MovieStock shadowking Jun 19, 08:13

Shush! You're not supposed to bring facts into someone's complaint about not knowing what's going on! DTravel Jun 19, 12:42

Just ignore day traders and stick to value. LIONK IPO'd at $200, went to $220, Tanked to $165, then ripped to $280 and crushed shorts :) {nm} tomcat90 Jun 19, 08:31

I've got opposite advice: trade, baby, trade. trade swings, that is how you make most H$ {nm} Oleg_Max Jun 19, 08:57

Absolutely correct IMO. Follow the stock trends for best profits, if you can devote the time needed. If not... hope for the best. {nm} Not My President Jun 19, 09:04

Although some of us don't live on HSX :p, so hard to keep up with wild swings (in regards to these kind of IPOs). -JPV- Jun 19, 09:05

I agree. The pursuit of real money, that buys real things, is a bit more fun anyway, but to each his own :) {nm} tomcat90 Jun 19, 09:09

So you gained $80... but if you day traded you would have made $187 (minus transaction fees). Which is more fun? {nm} Nigel_Ray Jun 19, 10:40

buying & forgetting is more fun. Im not about to turn hsx into a job SMH {nm} adrenalin112 Jun 19, 11:29

It's all a function of one's free time right? To make $187, you have to time each trade perfectly and watch every tick... tomcat90 Jun 19, 11:36

Very true. I have the luxury of little moments of free time at my job to hit refresh on the site and watch a related Twitter feed. {nm} Nigel_Ray Jun 19, 11:48

and thats why i miss the friday 10am Halt with Sunday Adjust. It was really a place to put your H$ where you mouth is adrenalin112 Jun 19, 14:16

Just like the real world stock market, right? FabioParme Jun 19, 08:57

PTRPN is up 30% from IPO. {nm} Antibody Jun 19, 09:14

I sit on this type of stock like this like a hen on an egg. It'll mature and grow into a tasty treat one day. {nm} Bronzey Jun 19, 10:11

Or not... {nm} FabioParme Jun 19, 10:37
