Movies

RoughNight, easy. Snatched, easy. Bridesmaids and bad mom's, mayyybe for OW, but not full run.

Posted by: adrenalin112 on Jul 18, 19:21 in response to lobogotti's post Well, I see it making more than Bad Mom's, Snatched and...

The comps i'm using are:

About last night - 25m OW / 48m Domestic - April '14 release - 2250 screens

TP's single moms - 8m OW / 15m Dom. - March '14 release - 1900 screens

Think like a man 2 - 29m OW / 65m Dom - June '14 release - 2225 screens

Think like a man 1 - 33m OW / 91m Dom - April '12 release - 2000screens

I'm projecting it falling short of think like a man numbers for OW. 22-26m OW   Without male stars, or a romance storyline showcased it loses its date night appeal some.

Also, these movies dont have legs, so i dont see it surpassing bad moms 113m or bridesmaids 169m domestic runs. Thanks to summer tho, it'll do a tad bit better as college age females will give it a boost during the week. Still dont see it crossing 100, but i think 75-80m is doable.

Girls Trip is going to do what Rough Night couldn't and breakout this weekend. {nm} lobogotti Jul 18, 11:01

Define breakout #? {nm} Antibody Jul 18, 11:03

Well, I see it making more than Bad Mom's, Snatched and definitely Rought Night for OW (which isn't hard). lobogotti Jul 18, 11:28

looks good. yeah, I tend to agree that $100M would be tough (even on a $30M opening) for this film. {nm} lobogotti Jul 18, 19:57

I'm hoping for a big breakout. Expecting tracking to be more modest, high teens to 20, but this demo is notoriously tough to project. {nm} RollingThunder Jul 18, 11:23

It's really not that hard, its just that hsx is notoriously bad at anything targeted at people of color or women. adrenalin112 Jul 18, 19:10

it looks so corny tho, you might be right {nm} AlexanderC Jul 18, 11:28

it may not be your or my film, but it will be a huge date night film. also, a lot of ladies going out for this one lobogotti Jul 18, 11:30

Already seeing evidence of that here with 28 sold for Thursday. It's become a popular ladies night especially for female-targeted films. {nm} RollingThunder Jul 18, 11:33

very nice {nm} lobogotti Jul 18, 12:36

Not a Date night movie...a GIRLS night movie. Used2BeTwitterFamous Jul 18, 21:18

tell that to my wife. there will be a fair share of men drug to this film, but obviously it is a GIRLS night film. {nm} lobogotti Jul 19, 05:12

The target audience could make it have a successful weekend, if the movie looked good and they were interested. Looks poor to me. {nm} goodtimes92618 Jul 18, 18:13

It's getting good RT reviews so far. I'm feeling it. I love female comedies, so I'm all in. {nm} Bronzey Jul 19, 04:51
