I was about to say that the book is/was way overrated.

Even though it was really geared towards those of us who grew up in the 80's, it read like a book written for teenagers today. I read a lot of books and I was really scratching my head after this one. I couldn't figure out what the fuss was all about.

My biggest peave of the entire book, however, was the fact it felt like the author threw in 80's references just for the sake of it. Most of them (descriptions of posters, music, video games, etc.) didn't pertain to the plot or further the story.
