This movie should've shattered the record, which is only $140m, and that was set 11 years ago by PotC3. It was tracking for $170m at one point. With such a terrible foreign gross looking likely, this movie likely needs at least $350m domestic to break even, if not more (estimating a 55/45 DOM/OS split). The top 5 Memorial Day openers have an average multiplier of 2.15 from the 4-day OW. To get to $350m DOM, that requires a 4-day opening of $162m. The leggiest of those 5 (Indy 4) had a multiplier of 2.5. Solo would need to open at $140m with those legs to get to $350m. Again, this is just to potentially reach breakeven.
So yes, top 3 Memorial Day opener is still a low bar. This is bad.
