There's some irony in the fact that ROMA did so well with the netflix "theatrical" and awards campaign that the handful of companies that handle foreign language content would be more likely to grab the next ROMA ($15m budget, auteur passion project, foreign language). thats already happening.
Aside from auteur filmmakers, the most commercial awards title I've seen so far this year (THE FAREWELL) is 80% foreign language. I should observe I think LATE NIGHT has real problems in the prestige space and Amazon is gonna spend some bucks proving me wrong about this so I'm gonna stop talking
