Wow. I was hoping this would be good counter programming to star wars but it might end up too weird for a broad audience.
The negative attention might help it though, if it gets people there for the opening the holiday period could carry the movie simply on momentum.
Alvin and the chipmunks opened alongside Force Awakens, did 14/75 with negative reception, I could see something along those lines.
