2012 - Mark Walhberg talking about casting JLO in the role for Cocaine Cowboys (COCOW)

"It's one of those characters that will go down in history. Jennifer Lopez is chasing that [role] like crazy," Wahlberg revealed. "It's the role — if I could play Griselda, I would. That's Academy Award [bait] right there."


That movie was never made.


Then somebody else made a movie about this lady... (GODMO) and JLO auditioned and was turned down.  Catherine Zeta Jones got the part.

The producer of The Godmother said Jennifer Lopez didn't have the "acting quality" to pull off the role Zeta-Jones had been cast in


Production dragged on with that movie (Catherine Zeta Jones movie went straight to cable - Lifetime), so JLO started her own competing project for HBO (she is executive producer) (link) in 2016.

Guess that didn't work out at HBO so now in 2019 that project has landed at STX (same executive producers and writers)
