"Threatening" them? Like the other guy said, lighten up. It's a flick. I doubt the movie "Machete" is going to get anyone hurt. People may not like the immigration policy in AZ...but no one's going to get maimed over it. Don't be so paranoid.
Now, we can save the politics for a different time but, yeah, a lot of people, myself (a white American) included, feel that the law is racist in that it targets people of color. I can tell you that if I had a hispanic wife and mixed race children, i sure as heck wouldn't subject them to AZ. No thanks.
As for DeNiro's character, he captures the basic gist of politicians like Jan Whatever-her-name-is, just exagerates it. This is not unfamiliar to the world of cinema. Relax.
Uh, there were a lot of groups of people here before this land became America. That's a fact. Deal with it. If you can't accept basic truths and find logic infuriating then, you know, I can't help you with that.
How do you know the nationality of those people killed in the trailer? Could have been a couple of Norwegians or Frenchmen up in the mix. I think the point was that they were evil mofos, like Danny Glover and his minions in "Shooter"
And, yes, with everything going on right now, this seems like a very timely plot-line to explore.
If you have a problem with the film, I'd love to see you go out and picket it, you know, instead of just whining on the internet...
