Don't give up on the Egyptian. Netflix saved both AC theaters by buying Egyptian. They were both going to close. I suspect that doesnt mean a lot to you given who much you hate Netflix, but keeping the theaters open does mean a lot to the rep community in LA. Their deal with AC guarantees AC controls programming on weekends and they get to keep their festivals like Beyond Fest. You'll still be able to enjoy the programming you appreciate there.
Try to see movies like ROMA and IRISHMAN in the theater. Even if you consider them lessor as TV movies, its still a better experience to see them theatrically. I saw ROMA on an IMAX screen at TIFF for the first time on it was wonderful.
Cancel Netflix. You're self admittedly too biased against their model to enjoy the critically acclaimed content they make and license. In its place subscribe to:
The Criterion Channel ($10.99 a month or $99.99 a year). I know you said you have a lot of their discs, but theres a ton of movies in the Janus library on the channel they will never release on home video and they have excellent third party licensing. They are doing an Ozplotiation theme this month and that alone is worth the $100 a year.
Mubi ($10.99 and month or $96 a year). MUBI curates their library monthly so they only have 30 films at a time. It's full of discoveries I think you'll enjoy. In their own words - Mubi offers a small selection of hand-picked films that are designed to appeal to fans of classic, world and off-beat cinema. If you’re looking for blockbusters you won’t find them here — but if you love art films or like to indulge in great historical movies, then Mubi will bring them directly to your device for a low monthly price.
IFC Films Unlimited ($5.99 a month) New IFC titles have their first broadcast window with Hulu, but they'll go here after and most of IFC's library is on this site. IFC is probably more in line with your tastes then the other niche streamers.
I don't know what your set up is at home, but considering you've invested in your personal library, I would assume you've invested in your TV and speakers. Consider upgrading even so. There's some 4k streaming content that makes that investment worthwhile.
Finally, consider a fundraiser memebership with Vidiots in Eagle Rock in 2021 when they open. It'll be a new rep house in LA with eclectic programming you'll appreciate and you can focus on supporting a theater thats new rather than focusing on the ones that will close.
