Lines are being drawn, factions are being formed. I mean, me, personally? I love this ****, but is it really necessary?
Yesterday I finally decided to call out the elitist film critics who are shaming anyone who chooses to take advantage of the movie theaters reopening by going out to see a social-distanced movie. I myself bought a ticket to see Tenet in an adjoining state because I got sick of New York's egotistical governor strutting around like a peacock while deciding what is and isn't safe to reopen. It's one thing to say, "Me, personally, I won't return to a theater because etc. etc" and "You should not return to a theater because I said so and I'm a film critic so I know best."
Honestly, I'm more worried about riding the subway and getting on a train, neither of which I've done in six months but we're at a point where the people cowering at home are just going to ruin everything I ****ing hold dear and I'm not ****ing having it. Do what you want. Let me do what I want in peace. If I get COVID, then it's my own fault, but I'm also smart enough to get tested and quarantine until I have results and I haven't gone outside once without a mask in the past six months so it's not like I'm going to be spreading anything. Except my legs in my socially-distanced train car and movie theater.
The AV Club can go suck it.
