Big stars on tap for 'Big Valley' Principal photography for The Big Valley, a movie version of the 1960s TV western, is scheduled to begin in early July in Baton Rouge, say Louisiana Film & Television officials. The movie, currently in pre-production, will reportedly star Richard Dreyfuss, Ryan Philippe and Susan Sarandon, according to the Internet Movie Database. The Big Valley is based on the series about the Barkley family, who lived in California's San Joaquin Valley in the 1870s. This project is the most recent of a string of movies filmed in Baton Rouge featuring well-known actors and actresses. Currently Samuel L Jackson is shooting Death Game in town; other films in progress locally are Flypaper, which stars Patrick Dempsey and Jessica Biel, and Blood Out, featuring Val Kilmer and 50 Cent. The Ledge, starring Liv Tyler, was shot downtown in the spring.
