Sure. I loved it and mostly watch films at home. But....

Posted by: 3ebfan511 on May 25, 09:26 in response to goodvibe61's post I never thought this would be some big hit. I just didn't...

I think there are some things going on beyond just the quality of the pictures.  If you go on the Tiktok....young people are pissed right now...and saying they will boycott almost everything + anything.  (Regarding Palestine situation especially.).  Young people were driving the return to box office ..and now many are staying away...thus lowering already just so-so numbers....to terrible territory again.  The pandemic is also still not even over,  Biden just tries to pretend it is to try to win an election.  (Failing horribly there too...)     And on top of that people are just not feeling good right now (young people) and most are super broke.  Much of Americans struggling financially.

So I don't even think it's an indictment on these films.  They may be OK.  Theres other things going on...(Bird Flu will also likely mutate to  human to human...but not for perhaps 6 ? 12 ? 18 months ? ). This fall could be a mess into winter and normal flu season.  Prepare yourself....

I bet I will like Furiosa in a few weeks streaming prob.  (Health issue can't even go to a theater right now ..millions sick with long covid too....this country is a mess right now.). Ever since Civil War came out ...I think something has happened in the zeitgeist.

From WB: Furiosa $10.2m Friday in 3,804 locations {nm} The Weekend Warrior May 25, 07:47

Seriously, if Garfield beats this, anyone at WB who ever says the words "Mad Max" should just get fired. The Weekend Warrior May 25, 07:52

People wanted a Tom Hardy sequel rather than a spinoff prequel no one asked for. {nm} Antibody May 25, 07:56

I will agree with that. I like Max but saw this trailer and felt a whole lot of meh. sneak May 25, 18:53

If you cast CHEMS, why make him ugly. {nm} Antibody May 25, 07:58

And as I've said, he should have kept his Aussie accent... The Weekend Warrior May 25, 07:59

If he had been the protagonist I think it would have done better. MattW May 25, 08:48

I dunno... CHEMS seems to be the box office kiss of death other than playing Thor. {nm} The Weekend Warrior May 25, 11:08

Also de THE BAR was set to HIGH with Fury Road it is an entertaining movie but not MIND BLOWING, IMAX LOOKING GOOD {nm} cinebello May 25, 09:33

Garfield $8.4 million on Friday in 4,035 locations ... studio projecting $31-33m weekend {nm} The Weekend Warrior May 25, 08:01

(That's 4-day) {nm} The Weekend Warrior May 25, 08:01

I never thought this would be some big hit. I just didn't think so, but kept leaning toward the tracking data. Stupid. goodvibe61 May 25, 08:19

Box office is product driven. All the chicken little stories will change when DEAD3 breaks the R-rated opening record. {nm} Antibody May 25, 09:43

Box office is down because of Biden & bird flu. Got it. {nm} Moviesnob May 25, 09:58

It's a combination of things. booboo May 25, 09:58

How soon we forget about Barbenheimer {nm} Antibody May 25, 10:02

if viewers stop paying to see these movies in theaters, "Atlas" is the level of all they're gonna get on streaming. choose wisely! {nm} wow platinum May 25, 10:38
