Need help/ideas on a research paper about the one shot in motion pictures - details inside

Posted by: jonjon on Jul 26, 21:50

I hope this is still considered a movie topic, if not delete. I have to write a paper in my Visual Communications class at Auburn. First, I am a returning student, so this isn't my first rodeo. Actually, I've been playing HSX since 1997. It is the final assignment for the class. The ideas or examples I have so far: 1917 (yes, I know it is edited to simulate one shot); the 1990 friendly personal battle for longest one shot take between DePalma & Scorsese with Bonfire of the Vanities & Goodfellas. The paper is short and sweet, but I need at least 3-5 examples and any suggestions I could find more info or opinions, new films or historical. Thanks! JonJon

Opening of "Alphaville" (1965) - as Lemmy Caution enters the hotel, rides the elevator, and walks corridors - 4 minute take. ballpark_frank Jul 26, 23:24

My bad... only that short sequence - not the whole film... - But still, a great flick. {nm} ballpark_frank Jul 26, 23:26

I'm not looking for entire films bc they tend to be gimmicky, though I'm interested in Russian Ark. More of a historical look. Thanks! jonjon Jul 26, 23:36

Now... you all have piqued my interest in that film (Russian Ark)... Thanks! {nm} ballpark_frank Jul 27, 00:14

aside from the classic showy long-takes, don't sleep on Spielberg's mastery of the oner that you rarely even notice is a oner. tons of them wow platinum Jul 27, 08:05

Prob one the classics is Hitchcock's Rope. There was also Running Time with Bruce Campbell. Both has about 8 hidden cuts {nm} Kevman66 Jul 27, 09:58
