generally i would agree with all the sugesstions here. this one has lost considerable value but is being promoted heavy on TV here in the LA market so i would actually buy around now and wait and see in go up. if i bought it say 3-4 weeks ago i prbably would have shorted it and covered it right around now. that way of dealing with limiteds with good potential has been working well for me.
is it considered good practice to shy away from limited release films? I lost a ton on Middle Men [MIDMN] last few days. {nm} Atmosphere0073 Aug 06, 11:29
Paranormal Activity did pretty well {nm} Moviesnob Aug 06, 11:51
I seem to remember a little film called "Slumdog Millionaire" that didn't do so badly after expanding from limited into wide Apokalips Aug 06, 11:56
JUNO u know??? {nm} lhayes37 Aug 06, 14:24
Also, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Precious and plenty of others that expanded and did well. But those are the exceptions. {nm} Facto Aug 07, 08:04
You don't have to hold them long. {nm} RogerMore Aug 06, 12:45
It is a good idea to SHORT them on principle alone. This is a box office game. Limited releases are like Arena Football. Or like Serie B. {nm} lhayes37 Aug 06, 13:39
I find that most end up being shorts, and if not, you usually have enough time to flip {nm} ChrisEW Aug 06, 13:55
Somewhere around 60% of limited releases delist under H$1 and 75% under H$2. shadowking Aug 06, 14:03
This is sacred information to be passing out to neophytes. {nm} lhayes37 Aug 06, 14:17
