This is why midnight #s should NEVER be reported as separate amounts.
It's not reported for hundreds of other movies throughout the course of the year so why should Paranormal or other movies get special treatment? Unless they're going to report Thursday midnights on THURSDAY, then it should just be included as a parenthetical when reporting Friday box office. This whole thing of alternately mentioning it separately or not is really underhanded on the part of journalists and the studios. Every other movie that opens on Friday and has Thursday midnights just puts the latter amount in the total estimate for Friday and there's none of this "oh, it didn't drop so much on Saturday because I'm not going to include the Thursday #s in there".... and to this I say, "Why not? You include the midnights in with Friday for every other movie."
