Lincoln Lawyer and Limitless are serious stuff. Paul is like a slacker comedy, it seems. So, the question is, what are the audiences craving
the most, at this particular point?
I couldn't be sure. Paul may benefit from the presence of a blockbuster movie about evil aliens, making that peaceful slacker-version attractive - by sheer contrast?
This weekend seems hard to predict. But Limitless is probably the type of film we all would like to see do quite well - but won't really be very surprised to see do poorly (if it indeed does do poorly). DeNiro certainly is no viewer magnet anylonger. He's been in a lot of middling movies, the last decade or so.
