Price fluctuations like that don't really affect the game or the data too much as they are not major stocks, but they do generate interest

Posted by: Catzan on Mar 24, 14:41 in response to secretstalker's post A $2 stock going up more than twice its original price...

in the game and players that can get more H$ that way...Smaller traders...well, then they can have a greater say in the larger stocks.  It is tough to play this game without $50m...now with 100k in shares...100m would be nice. So players that are going to play and have an impact on stock prices, this actually is a good resource for them to build their portfolio. But that is part of the glass is half full side. I understand your position, I think Antibody has stated his. You have given new information that the IPO's now behave differently. That information does not move Antibody to look into changing the way stocks move.

Ok, back to my initial statement...price changes like the one you mentioned DO affect the game...but I think it is a positive and generates cash flow and interest where there was none before.

Question about LBSLD jtjr26 Mar 24, 10:21

I'm sorry but you're trying to use "logic" to figure out something that's illogical. secretstalker Mar 24, 10:24

Only shares traded today affect the price, not shares held yesterday. Just like the real world, secrestalker. {nm} Antibody Mar 24, 10:25

Those trades are just happening because the stock moved a tick up at reset. Does the real stock market behave that way, too? secretstalker Mar 24, 10:31

that horse you're beating is dead {nm} Moviesnob Mar 24, 10:32

I think I saw it moved so I better make sure! :) {nm} secretstalker Mar 24, 10:34

They shoot horses, don't they? {nm} Catzan Mar 24, 10:44

Mmmm....horsemeat and velveeta sandwiches.... {nm} Paul2k Mar 24, 10:49

LOL...trying to figure out which is worse...velveeta or horsemeat... {nm} Catzan Mar 24, 10:56

velveeta {nm} BionicMoron Mar 24, 11:01

Yes. It's called daytrading. The first trade also ticks the price in the real world. {nm} Antibody Mar 24, 10:35

But you have created a system that allows easier market manipulation by those who are prone to do it anyway secretstalker Mar 24, 10:38

so, if the first trade doesn't move the price, which one should? ndmaster Mar 24, 10:40

Volatility should be set based on the stock's price, just as it was before. secretstalker Mar 24, 10:49

(And believe me, I have far better things to be doing with my time than repeatedly pointing out what should be obvious.) secretstalker Mar 24, 10:53

There is difference in volatility based on the stock's price. {nm} Antibody Mar 24, 10:53

You believe the game should be changed to operate your way. I think they should eliminate dribbling in basketball. But I got over it. {nm} Catzan Mar 24, 10:58

What difference does it make? When the movie is closer to release, it will move according to projections. These fluctuations are meaningless Catzan Mar 24, 10:55

A $2 stock going up more than twice its original price after dropping 65 cents in its first day is not "minor" {nm} secretstalker Mar 24, 10:59

Secret is making a fair point alfpaul Mar 24, 11:13

Catzan makes a good point too JMT Mar 24, 11:44

The heaviest trading volume for a new IPO is the first few days, thus the biggest fluctuations. You'll notice both will tamper off and Antibody Mar 24, 12:12

Honestly, not complaining alfpaul Mar 24, 12:26
