1) a good professional always uses the tools available to him. I admit that, when available, I use PABS as a tool as it has proven to be a reliable estimate of future changes to each bond. I really like the notes as to potential next adjust when there is no release date.
2) I still look at other factors to try to determine which of the 3 options to use. (Hold, Reverse or Dump) such as recent changes.
3) Folks still should be able to start to do the math for future adjusts. KaiGee is a good way to learn. The recalculator is a great tool.
4) As much as I like the PABS, its lack of dROI fails to put anything into context. That is OK. I can deal with it. But a 10 point swing in 3 weeks is very different than a 10 point swing in 18 months. A 10 point swing for a Bond worth 15 is more meaningful than one worth 150. Having said that, there are other factors such as additional box office of currently in releas movies and the general rise of wide release movies as we get closer to release date. PABS is simply a snapshot of what things are today, if nothing changes. Of course, we all know that the only constant is change.
5) You know that I generally show math and encourage its use. That IS the only way to get a handle on what really happens in the bond market.
Hava a good holiday everyone.
Is there a PABS this week? Dude, I miss you! {nm} JohnTEQP Dec 20, 17:05

How is giving KaiGee's list to people "teaching a man to fish"? That's giving them the fish and saying "go fish some more". accountant_4_Jesus Dec 20, 22:43
Linking to Kaigee's list is like taking them to an aquarium, throwing them into a shark tank and then going out to get sushi. {nm} TheWeekendWarrior Dec 21, 11:55

I don't know if you realized it, but my post above was a joke. I was just trying to make a lot of silly fish analogies. {nm} TheWeekendWarrior Dec 22, 05:23
