New class of antifungals/antibacterials officially named in honor of Keanu Reeves a.k.a HSX's KREEV
For many years, scientists have been searching (substantially futilely) for something to kill fungi and control the often very serious infections they cause in humans and widespread destruction of plants, including crops. German researchers have discovered a new class of compounds which does that "very efficiently" and with precision. When it came time to name their discovery, they told The NewYork Times, they were "were reminded of lethal action of a Hollywood proportion:specifically, Keanu Reeves in his starring role inthe thriller franchise John Wick."
They devised the new name "keanumycin" for the discovery.
