He signed a seller-friendly contract. He waived most due diligence and expressly authorized specific performance. He has said and done stupid things repeatedly. He seems to be mostly bluffing -- or maybe he doesn't understand the rules of the game -- but he has enough money to pay those who call that bluff.
Largely what one would expect of an impulsive, reckless, autistic, antisocial, wealthy, spoiled jerk.
