Just a note for any old timers around (sad news)
Trish passed away last night.
I'm going to post crash davis' post from another site:
On her last trip to the ICU, they discussed a painful procedure to correct a problem. She was tired of being in so much pain and wanted hospice instead. I went to a meeting with her and the hospital on Tuesday, hoping that she would change her mind.
But I saw she was tired of all the pain. I agreed with her on the hospice, thinking we'd have a lot more time. She told me that my agreeing to end of life care was the biggest gift I could give her.
She came home on Thursday and due to them lifting the restrictions on pain medication, she wasn't hurting so much anymore.
I got in touch with Darcy and last night they talked briefly as Trish was taking a turn for the worse. The smile on her face when Darcy said she would always love her is something I'll always remember.
I then told her that I loved her and she told me the same. I thanked her for everything she had done for me.
I stayed up during the night. Her breathing got real labored this morning and I told her again that I loved her. I then said to not worry about me, I'll be fine. And then just like that, she was gone.
Her wishes were to be cremated and for me to have a memorial service at Trinity Lakes in July when the wild flowers are in bloom.
