First off, let me say - I don't like the change either, however:
The change was not made to make the game 'fun' for us with the adjust, it's designed to help HSX get more accurate data that they provide to studios, networks, etc. While the adjust was designed to bring a stock's price more in line with what the projected box office would be after 4 weeks (for wide) of release, HSX now apparently feels that letting the "market" determine a movie's opening box office may be better since lots of movies are "front loaded."
I understand 'why' they made the change, but in my opinion they are not worried about how long it may take a new player to move up the Leader Board, they want to provide as accurate of data possible to their customers, and they felt this move was needed as the movie going public has changed the way they see movies, etc.
Again, I understand their reasoning, and I prefer the adjusts, but they also are a business and have to do what they can to provide accurate data for their clients.
Hope that helps.
