Won't the business that use these numbers be asking for the same numbers we are wnating?
ERC seems to have been around since 1974 (according to their site), won't they start updating ther processes and what they collect from who about movies to stay relevent to their customers? My point being that if we are thinking about how to get reliable figures about movies won't the companies who are investing real money into vetting ideas and making movies be even more interested?
I would hope it would be meaningful to the price of a movie that goes VOD or PVOD when selling or leasing it to another streamer to get some form of how did it do on this or that streamer in order to determine what to pay for it. Maybe but I doubt that everyone just believes Netflix or Amazon or Apple when they say they showed it x number of times and we value it at $z or the distributor does or something like that.Ā
There are times I wish I understood how this all works now or did work, so that I could honestly guess how it could go in the new environment. I am guessing that there must be folks out there that have at least a clue or at least know what they don't want to happen as this evolves.
