The dropdown thing seems to be a conflict between Safari and some sites because I just had the same issue on another site.
I wonder if Apple has been focusing too much on the IOS version of Safari and has ignored the web browser version although considering how many Macs sell loaded up with Safari as the default browser it's odd that they would want anyone using Chrome by Google which is a direct competitor in many fields
