How much volatility do you need for candlesticks to be necessary or even an advantage?

Securities here are usually pretty consistent in what direction they are moving until there is news and then its pretty clear which way the news is going to move the price.  A given news item also only affects a handful of securities, typically one MovieStock and possibly its attached Starbonds, rather than whole groups of "same industry" securities.  (The government pandamic measures are an exception.)  HSX securities don't normally switch directions multiple times during any given day.  The closest we get to that is when the handful of reset traders try to start moving a stock in one direction and some hours later the majority of players wake up, check their portfolios, decide the reset traders are out of their minds and trade the other way.  Even that isn't all that many securities.  Which brings up that relatively very few players are logged in and trading all day long.  Unlike a stock or commodities market, the majority of traders here are logging in once a day at most.  The share limits and the program "brakes" dampen the potential volatility a lot.  Tying the Delists and Adjusts to objective outside numbers also limits the volatility.  Pump a security too far and it will start costing you H$.

I'm not meaning to be a wet blanket, just wondering how much of a benefit to the players having candlestick graphs available would actually be.

If they are they should be a selectable option. I suspect most players here couldn't understand them so we don't want to lose the current DTravel Mar 10, 21:15

I agree. I have just noticed that with all the recent volatility thay candlestick trends would have provided some good buy/short signals. {nm} IcePirate Mar 11, 04:05

Three or four days would be nice. IcePirate Mar 12, 03:58

My site has graphs for all securities shown in 1 hour intervals. {nm} KaiGee Mar 11, 17:53

Where? I just looked and can't find them. {nm} DTravel Mar 11, 22:45

on any stock page on Kaigee scroll down and it is the top left graph... you have to highlight and drag to expand to get down to by the hour {nm} AFRAM The African-American Fund Mar 12, 10:39

Now his search function just needs to work so I can find the stock page. *mutter* *mutter* *mutter* {nm} DTravel Mar 12, 11:47

I'll look into it. Didn't know it wasn't working. {nm} KaiGee Mar 12, 15:57

And while I'm being a cranky old man, your site's Movie and Starbond Changes pages have forgotten how often "weekly" is. :P {nm} DTravel Mar 13, 09:51

I broke the search when I upgraded my php version on the site. It will take some time to fix. {nm} KaiGee Mar 17, 20:56

Dang kids, always breaking things! {nm} DTravel Mar 17, 22:05
