Formula for when a limited release movie goes wide...

I looked through the glossary and help sections and cannot find the formula for when a limited release film goes wide. Apologies if it's written somewhere but I was unable to find it.  This is obviously pertinent information this weekend.

If memory serves (and it's been a while) the formula was (Wide weekend*2.9)+(previous box office) = adjusted price  
But I also seem to recall (wide weekend+previous box office)*2.9 = adjusted price 

The difference in those math equations this weekend is significant. ($5 vs $11 with a current price of $7)

Or, given that the security is not halted, does it even adjust?
