A film that made its debut at the 1999 Venice Film Festival, Boys Don't Cry is a fact-based drama about a teenage girl who lives her life as a boy.
An August 1999 article in the Hollywood Reporter noted that the film was slapped with an NC-17 rating, although Fox Searchlight will appeal this decision.
Boys Don't Cry stars Hilary Swank, who has several television credits, including two seasons on Beverly Hills 90210.
The film is the debut from director Kim Pierce, who co-wrote the film with Andy Bienen.
