Crossroads will mark the acting debut of pop star Britney Spears. The coming-of-age story concerns three childhood friends who grew apart in high school. The trio: a staright-A student, a cheerleader, and a burnout decide to take a cross-country road trip together and end up in Los Angeles competing in a music contest. Spears will play the straight-A student. Tamra Davis directs from a screenplay by Shaonda Rhimes. The $10-million production will be co-financed by Jive Records and Filmco. Crossroads was also known as Not a Girl and What Are Friends For.
