Don Bluth, director of this summer's animated, space flick, Titan A.E., has had a long career in the film business. Born in 1938 in El Paso, Texas, Bluth started his hand at both directing and producing in the late 1970's. In 1984, he directed the animated, sci-fi feature Space Ace, whose plot revolved around a young space hero (similar to his latest project Titan A.E.). The director even lent his voice for the character of Borf in this animated space adventure. Also in the 1980's, Bluth was both director and producer of such classic animated films as An American Tail (1986), The Land Before Time (1988), and All Dogs Go to Heaven (1989). For the last two of three films, Bluth contributed as the production designer to affect the overall look of these highly successful films. He continued his work in the 1990's on animated films including Thumbelina (a film which Bluth also wrote) in 1994 and Anastasia in 1997.
