Death: The High Cost of Living is a comic book miniseries adaptation from Neil Gaiman's work. The story of Death was first featured in issue eight of Gaiman's The Sandman series. The series was published in 1993 and stirred a great deal of interest from readers. The character was so popular, Death: The High Cost of Living was given its own mini-series. In this particular story, Death has to come back every one hundred years assuming the guise of a human being and hanging out on earth for one whole day. The comics presents death as a young woman dressed in jeans and a tank-top and wearing a ankh necklace, an Egyptian symbol of life.
