Set in 1914, Running Free traces the life of a wild horse named Lucky, which becomes separated from its mother near Africa's Skeleton Coast of Namibia.
Lucky's survival often depends on several characters in the film, including an orphaned stable boy, a young Bushman girl, and an Oryx antelope.
The film is directed by Sergei Bodrov, the Oscar-nominated director of 1996's Prisoner of the Mountain.
Acclaimed cinematographer Dan Laustsen, director of photography for 1997's Mimic and 1998's Nightwatch, captures the haunting backdrop to this coming-of-age tale.
