Director Eric Bross' follow-up to his 1997 debut, Ten Benny, is a drama called Restaurant, which tells the story of young waiters in a popular New Jersey restaurant and their dreams of breaking into show business.
The film blends the lives and loves and an interracial group of waiters, waitresses, chefs and bartenders at the Hoboken, New Jersey restaurant.
The 1998 movie featured Adrien Brody in the lead role as Chris Calloway, the aspiring playwright who falls for the new waitress/singer Jeanine, played by Elise Neal. Brody's appearance in the film preceded his launch into the Hollywood spotlight in such films as Summer of Sam, The Thin Red Line and Liberty Heights.
Written by Tom Cudworth, the film features other acting talent, Jesse L. Martin (Ally McBeal, Law and Order) and David Moscow (Zoe, Duncan, Jack & Jane, Hurricane Streets). Grammy Award Winner Lauryn Hill also makes a cameo in the film.
Bross followed Restaurant with the 1999 film, Stranger Than Fiction.
Restaurant will be released in 2000 through Palisades.
