Fans of Ed McMahon's variety show Star Search may recall Rosie O'Donnell's earliest days on television. The comedian was a five-time reigning champion on the show in 1984, proving that the series could indeed mine a few stars before its eventual demise. From that early break, O'Donnell landed various television assignments, and received her first film role in 1992's A League of Their Own. Often cast as a wise-cracking confidant, O'Donnell soon had credits in other films, including 1993's Sleepless in Seattle and 1996's Beautiful Girls. O'Donnell's natural charm and her reputation as "The Queen of Nice" has made her talk show -- aptly titled The Rosie O'Donnell Show -- a huge daytime hit.
