Thank you for bringing up Room. Without the awards awareness, that movie would have done far less than 14

The point is not that TIFF's audience awards guarantees a certain level of box office. It means its a strong indicator for awards. Awards awareness does increase a film's revenue across the board, including box office.

Lionsgate was already positioning this for the awards season. This provides confirmation it will both be an awards player and an audience favorite.

If you disagree, lets bet. If La La Land doesn't hit its current price at delist (37.39) I'll reset my port. If it it delists above it, you'll reset all your ports.

[LALAL] wins TIFF's audience award Moviesnob Sep 18, 10:46

We can TAG Film Festival Awards now? {nm} Captain Obvious Sep 18, 11:19

Tiff's audience award is an important early indicator for awards including best picture {nm} Moviesnob Sep 18, 11:29

The King's Speech and Slumdog Millionaire both won the prize. {nm} diamondman56 Sep 18, 11:40

What other Film Festival Awards can be TAGGED? The Film Festival Best Actress Award Post was Scrubbed. {nm} Captain Obvious Sep 18, 11:41

No other festival award affects its award chances and therefore box office like TIFF's audience award {nm} Moviesnob Sep 18, 11:44

I DO second that, Snob. In LALAL's case, though, I can't help but feel that the TIFF Audience distinction will be marginal to BO. {nm} eallensbp Sep 18, 13:35

I would disagree b/c this is being positioned for a major awards campaign which will likely be effective. This is a movie the Moviesnob Sep 18, 13:51

I can see this getting above 100 during Xmas/awards season. S/be a great night @ the movies & think it'll click across demos. {nm} Qix Sep 18, 15:01

You don't know what Impact, if any, this will have on its Box Office. There is no way to Measure its Impact. {nm} Captain Obvious Sep 18, 17:27

Just Speculation on your Part about Box Office Impact. 'Where Do We Go Now' (2011) 531K Box Office. {nm} Captain Obvious Sep 18, 17:29

'Room' (2015) 14 MILL Box Office. Other Factors - Other Awards, Marketing, Social Media, etc., etc., etc. {nm} Captain Obvious Sep 18, 17:31

THANK: "If the audience doesn't go and embrace something as wonderful as this then we are all doomed." Qix Sep 18, 17:40

Sure. Vote For Me & I'll Vote For You - Hollywood Marketing 101. {nm} Captain Obvious Sep 18, 18:00

Then you should have just talked about its Impact on Other Awards including OSCAR & not mentioned Box Office. {nm} Captain Obvious Sep 18, 17:56

Again - with 'Room' you have no idea what Impact TIFF's Award (BY ITSELF) had on its Box Office. You don't. {nm} Captain Obvious Sep 18, 17:57

So thats a no on the bet? And I do know what A24 baseline's expectations were for Room Moviesnob Sep 18, 18:08

C'mon Roto, I'll also reset my port if you win Moviesnob's bet. Game on? {nm} Qix Sep 18, 18:11

here's indiewire and variety Moviesnob Sep 18, 18:13

personally, I'd go higher. It's going to delist much higher than it's current price. {nm} lobogotti Sep 18, 19:43

A throwback to the Golden Era of Hollywood? It's gonna win all the awards, and make big bucks. {nm} numbersix_99 Sep 18, 14:13

+1 {nm} Qix Sep 18, 15:02

I find it interesting they want to go wide against Rogue One TwoMisfits Sep 18, 19:35

The 2 release dates navigate early-Dec BO graveyard & mid-Dec expansion allows for WOM to drive holiday business. {nm} Qix Sep 18, 20:16
