Eddie Murphy is not exactly having his best week ever. First Tower Heist underperformed, then he stepped down as host of the 84th Academy Awards ceremony due to the Brett Ratner fiasco. Now a trailer for his comedy A Thousand Words [TWRDS] has finally come to light, and it's apparent why the film has been shelved for nearly two years. Murphy [EMURP] stars as a fast-talking literary agent who can talk himself into and out of any situation. In the same magical spirit as Jim Carrey was forced to tell the truth in Liar Liar, a guru here binds Murphy to a bodhi tree with a thousand leaves that represents A Thousand Words. A leaf will fall for each word he speaks and he will die along with the tree if all the leaves are gone. He is forced to find new ways to communicate in painfully unhilarious results.
