Topping the weekend box office with an estimated $41.4 million, Captain America: The Winter Soldier [CAPA2] shielded first placefrom going to the birds. The superhero sequel dropped 56% in its second weekend to advance its total to $159.0 million.
Rio 2[RIO2] debuted in second place at $39.0 million, nearly matching the first Rio. Despite favorable word of mouth, the animated film had a smaller than expected Friday to Saturday bump.
Oculus [OCULU] scared up $12.0 million to open at the third spot, while moviegoers made Draft Day [DRAFT] the fourth choice with just $9.8 million.
Expanding wide to 974 theaters, The Raid 2 [RAID2] locked up $1.0 million.
