One week before the summer blockbuster season blasts off, Fox counters with the female-centric comedy The Other Woman [OTHRW]. Cameron Diaz [CDIAZ], Leslie Mann [LMANN] and Kate Upton [KUPTO] star as three scorned women who team up to exact revenge on the same man, played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau [NCOST] of "Games of Thrones" fame. While the PG-13 rated film is targeted at women, the cast is appealing enough for their husbands and boyfriends as well. Showing in 3024 theaters, The Other Woman could take in $17 million
Captain America: The Winter Soldier [CAPA2] looks to bank another $15 million, which could be enough to top the box office for a fourth weekend should The Other Woman falter.
Heaven is for Real [HVNFR] performed better than expected over the Easter holiday weekend. With positive word of mouth within the Christian audience, Heaven is for Real should hold better than 50% in its second weekend at $13 million.
Tailing off faster than its predecessor, Rio 2 [RIO2] may descend to $12 million for its third outing.
Relativity drops the parkour action remake Brick Mansions [BRCKM] starring the late Paul Walker. While the actor is not around anymore to promote the PG-13 rated film, his fans may be eager to see Walker on the big screen for the second to last time. Landing in 2646 theaters, Brick Mansions could hit $9 million.
Lionsgate targets horror fans with The Quiet Ones [TQONE] starring Sam Claflin [SCLAF] and Jared Harris [JHARR]. The PG-13 rated film has generated little buzz and the British-flavor may be too stuffy for American teens. The Quiet Ones could sneak out $7 million from 2027 locations.
Moviegoers had little interest in Johnny Depp as an A.I. in Transcendence [TRNSC]. The sci-fi thriller is likely to tumble 55% to $4.5 million.
