Shaking up the box office after a lackluster Memorial holiday weekend, San Andreas [SANDR] rolls up an estimated $53.2 million. The opening marks the biggest ever for Dwayne Johnson [TROCK] as the led star The disaster pic drew an audience that was 51% and 70% over the age of 25.
Pitch Perfect 2 [PTCP2] remained in second place with $14.8 million. The musical sequel has hit $147.5 million.
Last weekend top film, Tomorrowland [1952] dropped to third with $13.8 million, off 58% from its debut. The sci-fi film has admitted $63.2 million.
Mad Max: Fury Road [MMAX4] finished fourth at $13.6 million to bring its total across $115.9 million.
Aloha [ALOHA] opened at the sixth spot with $10.0 million. The Cameron Crowe romantic comedy skewed female at 64%.
