Nearly matching the franchise high set by the second installment, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation [MISS5] secured an estimated $56.0 million to lead the weekend box office. Mission: Impossible II debuted with $57.8 million in 2000. With excellent reviews and word of mouth,the sequel should have great legs.
Vacation [VACTN] debuted in second place with an underwhelming $14.9 million, and $21.2 million since Wednesday. The comedy re launch attracted an audience that was 53% female and 64% over the age of 25.
After two weeks at the top, Ant-Man [ANTMN] finished third at $12.6 million to bring its total to $132.1 million.
Minions [MNION] rounded up $12.2 milion for fourth and $287.3 million to date.
Pixels [PIXEL] tumbled 57% in its second weekend to $10.4 million and the fifth spot. Fellow sophomore pics, Southpaw [SUPAW] dropped 55% to $7.5 million, while Paper Town [PRTWN] fell 64% to $4.6 million.
