Clearing an estimated $41.5 million at the weekend box office, the spin-off sequel Ocean's 8 [OCEN4] bested all the debuts of the Ocean's trilogy. The all-female crew appealed to an audience that was 69% female and 69% over the age of 25.
Solo: A Star Wars Story [SWAR2] slipped to second place with $15.2 million, bringing its total to $176.1 million.
Deadpool [DEAD2] finished third with $13.7 million, totaling $278.7 million after four weekends.
Hereditary [HERDT] debuted at the fourth spot with $13.0 million. Audiences gave the horror film a CinemaScore of D+, even worse than the C- they gave The Witch.
Adrift [ADRFT] dropped 56% in its second weekend to $5.1 million for sixth overall. The survival drama has banked $21.7 million.
Hotel Artemis [ARTMS] bombed in its opening, booking just $3.2 million for eighth place.
