With Hollywood studios clearing the deck of major releases, Tenet [TENET] remained the only blockbuster in town. However, most moviegoers are choosing to away. At its rate of decay, Tenet looks to bring in $3.3 million in its fourth weekend and clear $40 million.
Infidel [INFID] connected with its target audience and should be able to hold 70% of its opening for another $1 million.
Kajillionaire [KAJIL] is one of two new releases starring Richard Jenkins [RJENK]. Focus has booked Kajillionaire in 531 theaters. However, writer-director Miranda July’s last film The Future was released 9 years ago and totaled just $586K. Kajillionaire may cash in $750K.
Jenkins also stars in the drama The Last Shift [LSHFT], which Sony slotted into this window just two weeks ago. The trailer was only released last week. Despite playing in 871 theaters, The Last Shift may not earn more than $500K.
That’s the whisper from the virtual trading floor.
