Like a nitrous oxide injection in the movie, F9: The Fast Saga [FAST9] gave the weekend box office a much needed boost with an estimated $70 million. The opening is the biggest since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in December 2019. The sequel played to an ethnically diverse audience that was 57% males and 51% under the age of 25.
A Quiet Place Part II [AQPL2] gathered another $6.2 million to stay in second place and reach $136.4 million.
In a close race for the third spot, Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard [HTMB2] tumbled 57% in its second weekend to $4.87 million. The sequel has shot up $25.9 million.
Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway [PRAB2] brought in $4.85 million, bringing its total to $28.9 million.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It [CNJU3] grossed $2.9 million to advance its total to $59.1 million after four weekends.
In the Heights [INHTS] took in $2.2 million in its third weekend. The musical has earned $24.2 million.
12 Mighty Orphans [12MOR] declined 34% in its second weekend of wide release to $591K. The drama has scored $2.3 million.
