Five skimpily dressed babes in fantasy land was no match for an adolescent boy in middle school as Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Roderick Rules [WIMP2] rules the weekend box office with an estimated $24.4 million. The sequel performed better than the original a year ago as Saturday saw an 39% bump over Friday due to the family audience.
Sucker Punch [SUCKP] finished a distant second at $19.0 million. The stylish fantasy appealed primarily to a fanboy audience that was 65% males and 75% under the age of 35.
Last week's top film Limitless [LMTLS] declined just 19% to $15.2 million for its second frame.
Remaining in fourth place, The Lincoln Lawyer [LNLAW] held even better as it trailed off a scant 17% to $11.0 million in its second weekend.
