News Briefs on Superman, Spider-Man, Green Lantern, and Green Hornet

Warner Bros. has won a lawsuit filed by the heirs of Superman co-creator Jerome Seigel over license fees.  However, the court also ruled that if Warner Bros. doesn't start production on the next Superman [SUPR2] movie by 2011, then the heirs may sue for damages.   The entire Superman copyright will revert to the heirs of the co-creators in 2013.  Source: Variety

Gary Ross [GAROS] has been brought on board to rewrite Spider-Man 4 [SPID4].  He is the third writer on the script after James Vanderbilt and David Lindsay-Abaire. Tobey Maguire [TMAGU] starred in Ross' Seabiscuit and Pleasantville. Source: Hollywood Reporter

Entertainment Weekly reports that Cameron Diaz [CDIAZ] is in talks to take the female lead in Green Hornet [GHRNT].  Diaz made her film debut as the main squeeze in the superhero-esque comedy, The Mask. 

AICN reports a rumor that Justin Timberlake [JTIMB] has screen tested for Green Lantern [GLANT]. He would join Chris Pine [CPINE], Shawn Roberts, and Brian Austin Green as candidates to suit up as Hal Jordan.
