Summer's coming soon, you'll need some cash to play those big opening movies... You could actually start getting your positions

on the closer ones, for example Avengers. I was having the same problem (I actually had about 200M in cash at one point), now I'm invested in about one month ahead, and still carry around some cash for day trading. If you don't have a clear view of those openers, I suggest you track down some of the high price movers, like for example the third instalment of a current opener, it has given me a few millions just by holding it and not looking at it.

I'm not saying you should invest in those especific moviestocks though, it's your call...

I have roughly 32% of my worth sitting around in cash, and I have no idea what to do with it. dave3626 Apr 10, 08:10

I was just going to suggest exactly what slappy did. What I've done, is every time I have a large sum waiting around, I invest in an PRodQuanta Apr 10, 11:01

Can do. One question, though. What is the metric you personally use to determine if those upcoming openers are underpriced? {nm} dave3626 Apr 10, 12:08

You can look at comparisons (film type, date), tracking information (posted regularly on the movies board, with its share of analysis)... slappydavid Apr 10, 12:32

Yep {nm} PRodQuanta Apr 10, 16:19

I'll tell you what metric I use. I trust my gut. How do I know my gut is trustworthy? My gut tells me it is. ;) j/k {nm} amnesiac Apr 10, 13:45

I must say, the logic is airtight ;-) {nm} dave3626 Apr 10, 14:03

Hopefully, so is his gut. {nm} DTravel Apr 12, 07:50

You can reach farther out (starbonds, movies, etc...), invest in higher priced stocks, and/or try out a new strategy. {nm} PVL Admin Apr 10, 11:19

I would like to get a handle on a solid daytrading strategy. I want to really learn the rhythms of the market throughout the day. {nm} dave3626 Apr 10, 12:12

Do you have PortMonkey? Daytrading is extremely difficult without quick charts from theun4gven {nm} arf Apr 10, 15:43

I do have Port Monkey. Honestly, though, I don't use it. I'm guessing I should start.. {nm} dave3626 Apr 10, 16:46

Click on daily change amount to see graph for last 2 days, rather than simply change since reset, the insight is invaluable. {nm} arf Apr 10, 19:07

Does Port Monkey have intraday charts? I wish the regular site had that. {nm} 121Jigowatts Apr 10, 19:07

One of the main things you can do with excess cash is short slow bleeders. 121Jigowatts Apr 10, 19:10

Go for Star Bonds into the fall for Blockbusters, over 100 bonds with high gain there too. Most of my gains are from SBOs {nm} arf Apr 10, 15:44

I cannot imagine having this problem. Jane_Citizen Apr 10, 17:02

Yeah, especially with a port size 10% of ours. ;) {nm} PVL Admin Apr 10, 19:12

All great tips and I'll make use of them, but maybe I should clarify myself a little. dave3626 Apr 10, 19:32

PortMonkey allows you to click to see an intra-day chart, and with that, finding the peak or lull is following news, or chasing trend. {nm} arf Apr 10, 21:39

You're right, I do have to start utilizing the program. {nm} dave3626 Apr 11, 02:52

We are 10 mil apart in port value, I have about 75%+ in star bonds short/long, the rest is for fast trading. {nm} arf Apr 10, 21:48

Looking at the PVL League, you must have found something that works, congrats! {nm} arf Apr 11, 21:11

News, news, and more news, that's what's working. Next I'll add PM's intra-day charts as you suggested. {nm} dave3626 Apr 12, 08:11
