Oh, one more thing - I haven't found it very helpful to go chasing the money on stocks that have already moved.
After I wake up in the morning, I'll check the biggest movers page and maybe flip a couple of positions. Sometimes these stocks will continue to go up (or down) in price, but just as often they'll stop moving and later in the day they'll go back in the other direction. This can get very costly.
I find it's often better to be patient. When I woke up this morning I was down a million. This is a bigger morning loss than I've seen in a while, and it would have been easy to freak out, flip all the movers and hope for the best. But if today is like any other day I've had lately I know I'll be back to breaking even by around noon and well into profit by the evening. I may flip a couple of movers that I expect to continue moving because of news etc, but for the most part I find it best to let things be.
