KIds and families aren't included in the "four-quadrant" model...

Posted by: secretstalker (a.k.a TheWeekendWarrior) on May 27, 08:34 in response to ShawnMR's post I've seen this mentioned a couple of times, but I'm going...

it's Men under 25, men over 25, women under 25, women over 25... so yeah, teens and kids are sort of included in the former but they have entirely separate tracking for kids and their parents... four-quadrant means that it's not necessarily for men or for women or for older or younger audiences.

$31.66 million for Hangover 2 on Thursday according to WB {nm} horlicks May 27, 06:59

Now the question turns to how frontloaded it will be. shadowking May 27, 07:10

so we are looking at around 95 mill over 4days to make its mark its at now? {nm} laleb May 27, 07:19

Yup, 95.35... it will have to make $27 million on Friday to make that. {nm} secretstalker May 27, 07:23

HANG2 seems to have a broader appeal imo than SEX2 - I'll be pretty surprised if it follows that same pattern {nm} tbonearelli May 27, 07:55

I agree. HANG2 is as close of a 4 quadrant R-rated film as your can get. SEX2 was not. {nm} Rolling_Thunder May 27, 08:02

I've seen this mentioned a couple of times, but I'm going to respectfully disagree -- sort of. TH2 is definitely a broad-appealing R film, ShawnMR May 27, 08:32

KIds and families aren't included in the "four-quadrant" model... secretstalker May 27, 08:34

Which is why the four-quadrant model has never made much sense to me. {nm} shadowking May 27, 08:42

No model is perfect. Just another tool. {nm} Juiced May 27, 08:44

It's why kids' movies generally show up low in tracking... well, except for Kung Fu Panda 2 apparently. :) {nm} secretstalker May 27, 08:49

I think the Panda kids undertracking thing was counteracted by the sequels frequently overtrack due to name recognition thing. {nm} shadowking May 27, 08:51

The point was that Matrix and Passion had broader appeal among each of the four quads. ;) {nm} ShawnMR May 27, 08:55

Didn't the Matrix appeal more to men than to women? {nm} Juiced May 27, 09:05

I would imagine so. Same goes for Hangover though, especially among older audiences. {nm} ShawnMR May 27, 09:21

I understand where you're coming from. I think the quadrants are a bit too broad to be useful myself, but it's what's used most often. {nm} Rolling_Thunder May 27, 08:56

also Hangover is a film exclusive... Sex2 was sequel to an adapted TV show...with dwindling audience...and had media backlash going against b4bad May 27, 09:52

I'll say it ends up somewhere in the middle. {nm} secretstalker May 27, 08:01

5.8M for Panda according to Guru. {nm} shawman May 27, 08:32
